Optex offers a comprehensive range of outdoor PIR sensors and Active Infrared sensors, suitable for a large variety of Event Driven CCTV and perimeter protection applications. The outdoor PIR sensor range comprises of short range, wide and narrow angle sensors (Optex outdoor PIR sensors) and long range, wide and narrow angle sensors (the industry renowned Redwall® range). The Optex range of Active Infrared sensors is a comprehensive range of short and long distance Photobeams suitable for use on both CCTV systems and in perimeter protection applications. It includes the Rednet® system which uses a unique 16 beam configuration to provide high levels of intruder detection.

Passive Infrared

 Optex outdoor PIR sensors are BS8418 compliant and are designed to operate as motion sensors for CCTV applications. They can be used to activate video transmission systems, position pan and tilt or dome cameras, or with a manned CCTV system simply alert an operator’s attention to movement in the coverage area. All Optex sensors are single ended devices, totally passive and easy to install and maintain.

REDWALL® PIR DETECTORS

 Redwall® has been the market leader in outdoor PIR sensors for use in CCTV systems for over 10 years. Their rugged design and unrivalled detection capability have made them the choice of sensor for security installers around the globe and due to their high levels of reliability, the Redwall® range is recommended by all the leading UK monitoring stations. The Redwall® range’s rugged design makes them suitable for use in almost any environment, with added Optex patented technology making them more resistant to environmental effects which can cause false or missed alarm activations. The sensors coverage patterns are designed to perfectly match commonly used camera/lens combinations as instructed by the new BS8418 standard.

OPTEX PIR DETECTORS

 Optex produces a range of short range outdoor PIR sensors ideal for use in both intruder alarm and CCTV systems. The range consists of the LX Series which is ideal for short range CCTV and intruder alarm applications and it’s built in light sensor allows it to be used in systems where light switching is required. The VX Series uses a dual detection method, providing even greater resistance to the possibility of false and missed alarms. This series also includes a unique sensor activated voice announcement function (VX-402REC) and a low current version (VX-402R) ideal for wire-free applications.

WIRE-FREE

 At Optex, we understand that some sites are just too remote or it is just not possible to install a hard wired system. For these reasons Optex produces a range of Wire-Free Redwall® sensors for applications where a reliable, low current sensor is required. Combined with the Optex Wire-Free Links which will operate at distances up to 200m line of site, the Wire-Free series forms a complete radio-linked system for outdoor use.

Combination Detectors

Optex has developed the World’s first Outdoor Combination Detector - Redwave®, specifically designed for Remote Video and CCTV applications. Minimising false alarms is a key target for both installation companies and remote monitoring stations, and by using proven PIR technology along with Optex’s newly developed Microwave technology, this new detector range sets new standards in false alarm prevention.

Active Infrared

 Active Infrared sensors operate by sending pulsed beams of infrared light between a transmitter and a receiver. An object breaking the beams will be monitored and an alarm created if the duration of the break falls within preset levels.

Active Infrared sensors may utilise single, dual or sixteen beam ‘net’ configurations. With dual beam active infrared sensors both beam paths need to be blocked simultaneously to create alarm activations. Dual beams emit more infrared energy making them more resistant to false activations caused by adverse weather conditions. The Rednet® series uses a unique sixteen beam ‘net’ configuration which provides even greater detection capability and less risk of false or missed alarms.

 PHOTOBEAMS

 Photobeam sensors are one of the best established security solutions in the market place. They provide an invisible ‘fence’, which when broken by an intruder creates an alarm condition. This makes them particularly suitable for perimeter protection. Optex offers a comprehensive range of Active Infrared sensors, from short range twin beams operating at distances between 10m and 60m to long range twin beams operating at distances up to 200m.

Optex unique technologies and design provide a wide range of functions that greatly simplify installation and maintain reliable performance, even in adverse weather or poor environmental conditions.
